About the Logo and Studio Name

WHAT IS A FLAT-CAT?
A "flat-cat" isn't as morbid as it sounds: it's a martial arts stance. I learned it as part of a form, or kata; essentially a choreographed fight. As a small part of a larger whole you aren't in flat-cat stance very long, just momentarily before shifting into another part of the choreography. It's a flexible and changeable stance. Exactly what I strive to be in my work.

WHY NOT JUST SIGN WITH YOUR NAME?
Like most people, I don't like my signature, and I hate signing my work with an ugly long name. Which can be a problem when you want people to identify your art as yours. I struggled for many years to try and come up with something: appealing to look at, witty, simple, unique, and incorporative of my name or initials:

Tadaaa M. W.

It's also a cat

PERFECT MATH
I love math. The golden ratio is famous for its utilization in creating pleasing artistic compositions. It is also found everywhere in nature. The simplest graphic expression of this mathematical ratio, 1.6180339887 called phi \varphi \,, is a five pointed star, or a pentagon, inscribed in a circle. This is called a pentagram.
Inverted, the pentagram is a symbol of Christ.
As seen on European Cathedrals.
As seen in LDS Temple architecture.

I also like the number six. To some it represents imperfection (it's almost seven, a symbol of perfection), but to me it shows room for progress, a constant striving towards perfection.

NOT 100% MY IDEA
Finally, the idea for this logo came to me in a dream just as I was waking up. So I cannot take full, or even any, credit for it's creation and cleverness.
